Charities must meet certain criteria to join the program including Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) Item 1. You can check to see if a charity has DGR item 1 by doing a search here. If they meet the criteria, and you would like to donate to them, email the details through to GoodCompany.

The Power to Give platform keeps a history of your donations. Simply click on your name in the top right-hand corner and select ‘My Account’

Please refer to these frequently asked questions in the first instance. If you cannot solve your problem there, please email either Energy for Life or GoodCompany.

How can I be sure that the charity I’m giving to is legitimate?

Karma Currency Foundation and GoodCompany undertake due diligence for each charity listed on the Power to Give platform including their Deductible Gift Recipient. It’s always a good idea however, to research your charities to ensure that you are comfortable with how they spend the funds.

Is my donation anonymous?

Your donation is anonymous if you chose to ‘opt out’ of communications from the charity. To approve/deny the charities you support having access to your details, you need to:

Simply click on your name in the top right-hand corner and select ‘My Account’

Click on ‘settings’ in the left-hand menu

Click on ‘communication settings’ and scroll to ‘charity partners’ – ‘charity communication’ and click on the button saying: ‘be contacted directly from the charities you support’.

Will I receive a receipt?

No, because your donation has been made from payroll deductions, you have effectively already received a tax refund at the time of your donation. You will not receive a receipt for your donation. Donations will be included on your AGL payment summary at the end of each financial year and you should claim a tax deduction in your tax return. You can also view the history of your donations in My Account.

What happens if my pay doesn’t cover my donations?

What are the giving options?

There are two giving options:

  • Give once: Make a single donation to the charity or project of your choice through a once off payroll deduction.
  • Donate regularly: Donate to the same charity or project through payroll deductions each pay cycle. You can choose to give to more than one charity.

Employee giving only allows for payroll deductions, NOT credit card donations.

You do not pay any administration costs for using the Power to Give platform. AGL’s Energy for Life has a formal partnership with Goodcompany which sees us pay an administrative fee on behalf of our employees who donate.
